Today is Bandcamp Friday. I’m sure very few people here know what that means, so here goes:

@Bandcamp is a music platform that enables music fans to discover & buy directly from artists – artists can form direct relationships with fan, who can (shock!) buy their music, merch or a subscription. This is a light in an otherwise punishing music industry where independent artists are directly incentivized to constantly market themselves everywhere online just to stay relevant, let alone grow their audience.

Every ~month Bandcamp hosts Bandcamp Friday, on which they waive their 15% revenue share. This is a big deal. 100% (minus credit card fees) goes directly to the artist.

Any many of the artists you know and probably listen to are there. (Including yours truly!)

Many of them are specifically promoting or even releasing new music today because Bandcamp Friday is an amazing day to support music and independent musicians. I’ve got a new single out today, called “The worst days of our lives”, available exclusively on Bandcamp for Bandcamp Friday. (You can always wait a few weeks for it to go to a streaming service, but therein lies the problem.)

Please consider supporting the independent music community by browsing and maybe buying some music or merch from a band you like – or one you haven’t fallen in love with yet.
