Something I appreciate about working for @Buffer is our notion of “calm productivity” – the idea that you can be really focused & work hard on a problem and not burn yourself out doing so, because we’re in it for the long haul. We do this in a few ways:

  • 4 day work weeks (Fridays are optional and meeting-free; I use it for spillover work sometimes as needed because life with a toddler is tough, but I also have flexibility to use this time as I see fit)
  • Generally biasing for kindness and assuming best intent
  • Putting value on focus time
  • Leveraging async communication and being patient for response, rather than (virtually) breathing down each other’s necks
  • Making space to be real and human with each other alongside getting things done and making sometimes hard decisions
