I’ve decided to kick off a more regular, likely biweekly, newsletter ✉️

It’s focused on ideas, findings & stories about surviving sustainably and ethically as an independent creator online, bringing together my active explorations as an indie musician, my work at Buffer, & my love for discovering weird new internet things. It’ll be called “lightbulbs dispatch.”

It’s obviously biased toward independent musicians, but my goal is to cover other forms of art/creation online over time. I might write even more frequently if I find the time (and/or gain the audience) to justify it.

Why am I doing this?

Over the last 18 months building up my music project Kid Lightbulbs, and my audience & community more generally, the biggest surprise I’ve found is how difficult it is to find genuinely useful, unbiased information around creating sustainably online. Much of it focuses on virality, engagement at the individual post level, the big platforms, & the tools with the best marketing. So this is my attempt to fix that with what I know and have tried to do as a nerd who enjoys tinkering with the internet.
