I was going to share another list of ✨ remote product management jobs ✨ this morning, but if I’m honest, the options were disappointing today.

• Only 2 of the listings I found had any degree of salary transparency
• Of those 2, one was highly uncompetitive for what they were looking for
• The other required 2-3 days in-office depending on your location
• Zero jobs posted in the past week offered any location flexibility outside a single country

That’s not to say there aren’t remote product jobs available. You can see a whole list of them on Remotive or We Work Remotely (my two primary sources for this stuff).

But we can do way, way better than this.

And it’s clear that the demand is there, given 3 small data points: the explosion of my own follower growth on LinkedIn since I start sharing these jobs, and that of my colleagues @Simon Heaton & @Tamilore Oladipo doing the same for remote marketing & content jobs.

Companies could be differentiating so significantly by leaning into this instead of shying away from flexibility & transparency. Why are they not?

I sometimes wonder whether the opacity is the point – it’s so hard to tell whether these jobs are worth applying to, that enough people eventually give up, and those who don’t accept whatever is thrown at them if/when they actually receive the offer. Taken to an extreme, it’s just cruel.
