Something I aimed to achieve with “the grass is quicksand” was to bring a
totally disparate set of musical influences together into something fresh and
urgent.

• the guitar riff inspired by Tool
• the pitched percussion synth from The Knife’s “a tooth for an eye”
• the hard bass synth of 2010s industrial rap
• the almost afrobeat percussion loop
• the vocals…idk, Elvis but autotuned?
