PERFORMANCE VERSIONS is out🤘🏻

This is a Bandcamp-exclusive EP containing five different takes (plus a coda!) on the newest Kid Lightbulbs single, “performance”, from my upcoming album INFINITE NORMAL.

These tracks cover all different genres, most of which pay homage in some way to the 90s: a time when it felt we had greater control over our attention.

My friend @brennamenz.com sings on almost every track, and my other friend ilyBBY produced 2 of the tracks – big thanks to them.

All Bandcamp Friday proceeds from PERFORMANCE VERSIONS are going to directly support Brenna, who recently lost her job in a layoff.

“performance” is about the performances increasingly happening all around us in lieu of justice or progress. It’s about performance rather than progress being the

thing that seems to matter. It’s about being a creative person in 2025 & the anxiety, dread and irony of constantly needing to perform in order to have one’s creations be found (let alone experienced). It’s about losing faith in those you trusted once you realize the performance they’ve been giving.

I’ll soon be sharing a longer post with some more of the backstory behind this song! For now, I hope you just enjoy the thing.
