I got quiet here for mostly personal reasons, but I’m back now and it feels like a good opportunity to reintroduce myself to the wanting LinkedIn public 😀

I’m Brandon. I’ve been doing product management stuff for the last 13 years in various capacities.

I went to school for music 🎼 but found my way into product after realizing that working too closely to the music industry was not for me, and I caught a lucky break at a music booking startup that gave me opportunities in various technical roles before landing my first associate PM job.

I tend to thrive as a strategist, despite having neither an MBA nor formal strategy consulting experience. I think this comes from my working in many different, usually quite complex, spaces in my time as a PM: talent booking, two-sided marketplaces, collaboration in the enterprise, furniture delivery, messy platform scaling. I believe that diversity of experience, combined with tenure in both early-stage and FAANG-scale organizations, gives me a unique perspective as a product leader. I’ve also worked with and led some amazing product thinkers and operators around the world, and that’s been awesome.

But outside of my product work I still make music! In fact, I’m more prolific now than I’ve ever been thanks to our unique culture and operation at @Buffer, having released 4 albums of music in the last 2 years under the name Kid Lightbulbs. I find having a side thing so deeply rewarding and important for my personal growth, and I cannot encourage others to explore their own highly enough (even if it’s not for 💸 money 💸 )

Despite working for a social media tech company, I have very odd & inconsistent social media habits 🤪 I almost never plan or pre-schedule content, much to my colleagues’ chagrin - it’s all on impulse, baby. I’ve found that posting impulsively is the best way for me to get my ideas into the world, even if it’s not always conducive to GrOwTh 📈📈📈

I think social media should be fun! It’s inherently social - it’s right on the tin. The minute we lose that sense of community and social belonging, and it feels more like a slop-filled set of advertising billboards, it’s doomed. So I’ll be here yapping about the importance of having fun in spaces like this, alongside musings around product strategy and creativity and what we’re doing at Buffer.

I hope you’ll stick around 😜
