One of my favorite things to do during the holiday break - other than resting & family time, of course - is to revisit my list of random tinkering & cleanup ideas that accumulates throughout the year. Just in the past few days I’ve:

• Started a public online reading tracker on my website, inspired by my colleague @Rathes Sachchithananthan
• Spun up a Jellyfin server (think Plex but open-source) to host our owned digital music & movies, and built a little automation to send @Bandcamp purchases over to it
• Tried & set up a bunch of little apps I’ve been meaning to try and deleted a bunch that no longer served me. Honorable mention to Espanso, an open source text-expansion app
• Refreshed a bunch of my passwords
• Moved a bunch of logins over to my new, slightly-more-professional personal email address, away from Gmail
• Cleaned up some bugs with my self-hosted music site
• Gave my personal website a li’l glow-up

I tried building something with Claude, but ultimately was let down – not by Claude, but by the lack of APIs available from services I’d want to leverage. This in turn gave me a few new ideas to tinker with.

The little things never cease to make me happy though.
