ok let’s play roast brandon’s linkedin profile pic 🥴
I’ve had this morose-looking photo in place for something like 2 years. It’s not the most LinkedIn-friendly photo – I actually use it as my default press photo for my music project, Kid Lightbulbs – but it feels the most me.
To be perfectly honest, I’m a bit tired of the trope of everyone having this bubbly LinkedIn photo with a big smile and a bright colored background and feigning perkiness. That’s not me! I get excited and am generally optimistic about things, but I’m a very contemplative person. I get to optimism most of the time after a lot of deep reflection, some of which feels much like a rollercoaster in my brain (and sometimes veers a bit into dark places, which is sadly happening more lately given waves arms around everything going on in the world).
I don’t know, maybe I’m overthinking this. But I like having a photo here that feels authentically me, and not just feeding some stereotype or expectation for how folks conduct themselves on a particular social network.
But should I change it up??? Here are some options
- current pic
- a selfie attempt at a new profile pic
- an actual headshot my wife did of me, but feels inauthentic
- me “giving a talk” (not really, it’s karaoke)
- me, halloween edition
- me, showing gratitude
- I call this “contemplationmaxxing”
- I call this “contemplative tech bro”
- BONUS: me with hair (c. 2018)
What do you think?
