Today the “internet tinkerer” part of my LinkedIn headline comes to life 🛠️

Because the Buffer API is now available to everyone!

It totally makes sense for @Buffer, the best social media toolkit for creators & small-to-medium businesses, to have a public API in this day and age. We’ve been working on this for a long time and I’m so excited it’s here now. (And it’s not done, there’s still more we’ll be adding to it!)

But what’s most fun is that it means anyone can now build a social media workflow that’s right for and personal to them, with Buffer as the plumbing. So many of my teammates and our Beta users have taken this to heart already!

For me? I’ve been pushing myself to treat some of my socials more as a public journal, and so I made something to really (force myself to) embrace that: Buffer Journal Mode.

I have a bunch of random ideas sitting in a folder that I could flesh out into social posts or longer articles and I rarely do anything with them. Journal Mode is a li’l daemon I have running on a spare Mac at home which, anytime I drop a text file in that “drafts” iCloud folder, it takes the text and automatically queues it up for any channels I specify. Forces me to get more thoughts out there 😅

It’s probably a bit messy, and I already have some ideas to improve upon it - for instance, I’d like to share journal thoughts related to tech / product / AI here but music thoughts to other places - but it’s a living thing, and I will continue to tinker with it, because as it says on the tin, I really like to tinker with things.
